Dune erosion at Myrtle Beach State Park.
After a December storm recedes, the dunes at Myrtle Beach State Park are eroded. The high tide and waves took approximately half of the dunes, leaving an oceanside face of gray miniature cliffs. Roots from the sea oats dangle in mid-air. It will be interesting to see whether the roots can help capture newly-windblown sand to reconstruct the dunes' missing sloping flanks.
