Note the colorful leg bands. Is this a racing pigeon on vacation?
A few days ago we saw a group of several pigeons among the seagulls at the edge of the surf in Myrtle Beach. As we walked closer, we noticed that one (and only one) of the pigeons had very colorful leg bands. We tried to get closer for a better look, but the pigeon was skittish and flew off a short distance.
On several successive days we hunted for the banded pigeon, but did not see it. Is it possible that this is a racing pigeon that decided to take a beach break while on its appointed journey?
