Landon Girard Gibson, age 37, of 152 Woodberry Drive, Danville, died July 23, 1984, in Duke University Medical Center, Durham, NM.C. He had been in declining health for 10 months.

Born December 23, 1946, in Pittsylvania County, he was the son of Doris Gibson Gibson and the late Joseph Robert “Joe” Gibson of Rt. 4, Chatham.

He lived most of his life in Pittsylvania County, where he was last employed by Dan River, Inc. He was a 1965 graduate of Chatham High School, a member of Mount Hermon Baptist Church, and a U.S. Army veteran who served in Germany.

In addition to his mother of Chatham, Route 4, survivors include two daughters, Jennifer Susan Gibson and Pamela Gayle Gibson, who reside in the Mount Hermon community; four sisters, Mrs. Lillian G. Wilkes, Rt. 3, Chatham, Mrs. Hilda Cocke, Danville, Mrs. Nancy G. Peek, Danville, and Mrs. Peggy G. Buchanan of Yorktown.

The funeral was held Wednesday afternoon at 2 p.m. at Barker's Funeral Chapel in Danville by the Rev. J.D. Hunt III and the Rev. Jack Oakes. Interment was in Highland Burial Park.
