Joan Marie Jones, 36, of Yanceyville, North Carolina, died Saturday, August 13, 1983, in the Memorial Hospital of Danville, Virginia.

Born May 19, 1947, in Pittsylvania County, Virginia, she was a daughter of Earnest Gauldin and Elizabeth Patsy Amos Gauldin, who survive.

She was employed by Commodore Corp. in Danville, and was a member of Tabernacle Christian Church in Callands.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by one son, Cecil Pete Jones, Yanceyville; two brothers, Bobby Lee Gauldin, Callands, Route 1, and Michael Clay Gauldin, Martinsville; two sisters, Jean Faye Rowe, Callands, Route 1, and Emily G. Wagner, San Diego, California.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. Monday, August 15, at the Scott Funeral Home Chapel in Chatham, Virginia, by the Revs. J.D. Hunt III and Roy Lester. Interment was in the Amos-Gauldin family cemetery.
